News From Jim Eck, SAIR President
Dear SAIR Colleagues,
I hope that your new year has gotten off to a great start. The SAIR board of directors recently met in Arlington, Virginia to continue planning for our annual conference, October 14-17. Lorne Kuffel, SAIR Vice President and program chair, is planning a memorable conference with the assistance of his local arrangements committee including Debbie Dailey (Georgetown University), Karen Gentemann (George Mason University) and Angela Hamlin (University of Maryland). Additional details about SAIR 2006 appear in this SAIRMAIL.
The SAIR planning meeting also afforded the board the opportunity to thank Darla Keel for her contributions to our organization. In addition to publishing SAIR newsletters and SAIRMAIL, Darla recently completed a redesign of our SAIR webpage. If you haven't visited http://www.sair.org , please do so soon. Similar to SAIR 2005, Darla has also agreed to create all conference related materials for SAIR 2006 and she will also host the web-based election process for SAIR board members. Finally, I want to thank Darla and Michelle Hall for their efforts to post many of the proceedings from SAIR 2005 in Charleston, South Carolina.
Finally, I wanted to extend my appreciation to Gerry McLaughlin (DePaul University) who recently completed his service on the SAIR Audit Committee. Gerry Dizinno (University of Texas at San Antonio) has agreed to serve on the audit committee along with continuing members Debbie Dailey (Georgetown University ) and John Kalb (Southern Methodist University).

SAIR.org has a new look
The SAIR website has been redesigned recently. Please visit SAIR at http://sair.org and take a look.
There is now a searchable database with past officers and committee members. Users can search by name, by year, or by position. Click on "Officers and Board Members" to access this new option. Members who have served on various conference committees will be added shortly to this feature.
The site is a work in progress so more updates and options will be added. Any comments or suggestions are most welcomed and can be sent to Darla Keel.

Psssst....hey, you. Need a passcode?
If you are a SAIR member and you want access to the password protected section of the SAIR website, please send an email to SAIR Treasurer, Bernie Braun. If you aren't a SAIR member, join today!
This section has papers and Powerpoint presentations that were presented at the SAIR conference held in Charleston last October. This is a great resource to recapture and refresh all of the insightful information that was shared a few months ago.
If you presented at the SAIR 2005 annual conference and you would like to submit your paper or presentation, please email your work to Michelle Hall. |
Updates From Lorne Kuffel, SAIR Program Chair
Plans for the SAIR 2006 Conference are progressing. There are a few items I want to bring to your attention. First, if there are any specific workshop topics that you believe would be beneficial or interesting for our membership, please share your ideas with Michelle Hall, Chair of the Workshop Committee. Likewise, if you know of any potential vendors that have not participated in one of our recent conferences and you feel they would be appropriate participants for this conference, please share the vendor's name with Mary Harrington, Chair of the Sponsors and Exhibitors Committee. The ‘call' for proposals will be distributed later in March, so please start thinking about being a presenter at the conference. The ultimate success of the conference is dependent on the quality of the program and that quality is dependent on the active participation of our members. Finally, remember you may book your room reservations for the DoubleTree Hotel Crystal City now at http://www.doubletreecrystalcity.com. The group/convention code is SAR.
Please plan on joining us in Arlington, VA, for SAIR 2006 next October because Debbie, Karen, Angela, and I are planning to make it a “Capital Experience” for you.
